WVS - The Technical Writing Company provides its services to you subject to the conditions enumerated below. If you visit the WVS site, you accept these conditions.

There are no hidden surprises here. Nevertheless, please read the following carefully.

Children

WVS doesn't provide products or services for purchase by children. Some website content may not be suitable for children. If you are under 18, you may use the WVS website only with the involvement of a parent or guardian.

Copyrights

All content on this site (such as text, graphics, logos, button icons, images, and audio clips) is the property of WVS, except when noted otherwise. It is protected by United States and international copyright laws.

Exceptions

  1. Some of the content on this site is owned by others. Some content is in the public domain.
  2. We use copyrighted material with the permission of the copyright holder. We cite the copyright holder and the author.
  3. Where the author has made his or her content available to all (he or she has said, "use anything you like"), and asked for attribution, we provide an attribution.
  4. Where the author is unknown, we say so, and we encourage the author/copyright holder to declare his or her ownership of the property.

Using Our Content

We support the Internet as a tool for exchanging information. Despite all the legalese, you can use anything you want from this site, provided we own it (if we don't own it, we can't give you permission to use it). However we ask you to do the following:

  1. Obtain permission from us to use the material. Write to permissions@wvswrite.com.
  2. Don't alter the material.
  3. Don't attempt to realize any direct monetary gain from use of the material. To do that, you'll have to buy rights to the material. We're not making any money from this stuff, so why should you?
  4. Give credit. Supply the copyright year, the copyright holder and the words "used by permission."

License and Site Access

WVS grants you a limited license to access and make personal use of this site.

This license does not include any resale or commercial use of this site or its contents. You may not reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, resell, visit, or otherwise exploit this site for any commercial purpose without the express written consent of WVS.

If you want to call this the "worst site on the web" (for example) and provide a link to us, that's fine with us. You have permission to disparage this site. Heck, we disparage this site all the time.

Submissions

You may submit content for use on the site. Use of your content is at the sole discretion of WVS.

You grant WVS the right to use the name that you submit in connection with such content, if we choose. At your request, we will withhold the name, but you must supply a name. You represent and warrant that you own or otherwise control all of the rights to the content you submit; that the content is accurate; and that you will indemnify WVS from any and all claims that may result from our use of content you supply.

We may from time to time provide links to other sites, primarily for the purposes of promoting a diversity of views, sharing entertaining content, or adding dimension to your Internet experience.

Disputes

Any dispute relating in any way to your visit to the WVS site shall be submitted to confidential arbitration in Nevada City, California, except that, to the extent you have in any manner violated or threatened to violate WVS's intellectual property rights, WVS may seek injunctive or other appropriate relief in any state or federal court in the state of California, and you consent to exclusive jurisdiction and venue in such courts.

Arbitration under this agreement shall be conducted under the rules then prevailing of the American Arbitration Association. The arbitrator's award shall be binding and may be entered as a judgment in any court of competent jurisdiction. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, no arbitration under this Agreement shall be joined to an arbitration involving any other party subject to this Agreement, whether through class arbitration proceedings or otherwise.

Applicable Law

By visiting the WVS site, you agree that the laws of the state of California, without regard to principles of conflict of laws, will govern these Conditions of Use and any dispute of any sort that might arise between you and WVS.

Site Policies, Modification, And Severability

We reserve the right to make changes to our site, policies, and these Conditions of Use at any time. If any of these conditions shall be deemed invalid, void, or for any reason unenforceable, that condition shall be deemed severable and shall not affect the validity and enforceability of any remaining condition.
