WVS was established June 1, 1988, in Nevada City, California under the name Willow Valley Software. Nevada City is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, 65 miles northeast of Sacramento (California's capital). This region is known as the Gold Country.
Prior to that, the company was known as Schoenborn & Associates, Data Processing Consultants, and was located in Hollywood, California.
In addition to professional technical communication, the company's subsidiary, Willow Valley Press, publishes books of all kinds.
The philosophy of the company is one of integrity, honesty, high professional standards, and the highest regard for people. WVS also strongly believes in community involvement and charitable giving.
Society for Technical Communication (STC)
Barry Schoenborn, the president, was a long-time Senior Member of STC and a member of the Sacramento chapter of the Society for Technical Communication. Senior writer Jim Collins is an active member of STC.
Public Service Web Pages
WVS creates and maintains web pages as a service to worthwhile causes. In particular, we developed the web page for the crew of the USS Rall (DE-304) and the website for the Blackbird Vision Screening System (helps identify eye disorders in pre-school and kindergarten children).
